VTR Disposal
Before neutralization, an oil skimmer may be needed to remove Petro contamination and paraffins.
Neutralize spent VTR with an alkali (base), such as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Wearing your PPE and working in a ventilated area well away from children, pets, heat and metals, prepare a base mix. Mix 1 lb of baking soda with plenty of water.
The neutralized solution can then be safely poured down the drain while running cold water. Continue to run water down the drain after the container is empty for at least 30 seconds. VTR is NOT a highly toxic acid and NOT hazardous waste.
